POST-IT POEMS
2020 Inktober
The year 2020 brought about some intense changes, anxiety, and straight-up craziness. When October rolled around I vowed to myself to complete Inktober for the first time. I plan to use the month of October to flush out ideas, play, and have fun. Most people use this month to draw with ink. I opted to do things a little differently. Hopefully, it will be a frolic through a sketchbook with glorious abandon.
I decided to limit myself with three simple rules. I had to incorporate the word of the day that 'Semioculus' put out, I had to use a post-it, and finally, I had to do a quick sketch for it.
The project was super fun and something I hope to continue. The work is loose and fast. Not precious in any way. Down and dirty, if you will. Hope you enjoy.

As with most endeavors I didn't know exactly where I was headed. It took me a few days to figure out a course. Once I had my post-it poem I needed a drawing.

Recently I've been enthralled with eerie feminine mystique. I love the idea that women are more than what they appear on the outside. I know this to be true for every woman I've met. This is what I used to inspire my poem companion digital drawings.

The end result was a short loop silent video of that glowed. They appear as a neon sign in a dark alley. These poems could be whispered in your ear as you walk alone and get the chills because your instincts say run but your pride says no.

I fully appreciate what artists put out during this season. There is some truly beautiful work being shared. I just thought that I wanted to try my hand at some bad poetry. I'm no poet, or maybe I am. Too soon to tell. One thing is for certain I LOVED this project.

I hope you enjoy my work. Feel free to share with credit.
